WICHITA, Kan. –
Winny Koskei broke the Wichita State 3000m school record, Friday night at Cessna Stadium.

On the second day of the Herm Wilson Invitational presented by Beynon Sports Surfaces, Koskei broke a 31-year old school record winning the women's 3000m race with a time of 9:40.68. The record was previously held by Kathryn Evans time of 9:46.90.

Two other Shockers recorded Wichita State all-time top-10 marks, including
Cory Martens and
Alex Adams in the men's and women's hammer throw. Adams started things for the Shocker throwers finishing fifth with a personal best mark of 54.37m/178-4, the fifth best throw in Shocker history passing Emily Peterson's 2002 mark of 52.96m/173-9.

Martens continued the Shocker momentum in the men's hammer throw finishing second with a mark of 61.41m/201-6, the fifth farthest throw in school history passing John Cook's 2001 throw of 60.14m/197-4.

Rebekah Topham opened her 2019 outdoor season winning the women's 1500m race with a time of 4:30.45, followed by
Yazmine Wright in second place with a personal best time of 4:34.00. Wright beat her previous personal best by 16 seconds.

Ben Flowers,
Cory Landon and
Ethan Kossover each recorded top-5 finishes in their respective races. Flowers placed second in the 3000m with a time of 8:41.71, followed by Kossover in fourth with a time of 8:45.26. Landon placed third in the 1500m with a time of 4:00.21.

After finishing day one of the women's heptathlon in third place,
Claudia Rojo battled back to win the event with a personal best 4,973 points. The redshirt junior opened day two winning the long jump with a mark of 5.59m/18-4.25, moving her into second place after five events with 3,685 points.

Rojo ran a 2:21.00 800m race, a personal best, to move into first place and claim the Herm Wilson Invitational heptathlon title.

Sydney Wilson finished the competition in third place with 4,825 points, while
Kendra Henry battled through an injury to place fourth with 4,814 points.
Jalen Milligan scored a personal best 3,916 points to finish eighth.

Davis Dubbert highlighted the men's decathlon, he set personal bests in four of five day two events to finish third with a personal best decathlon score of 6,117 points.
Lucas Shaffer finished the decathlon in sixth with 5,909 points.

Dubbert won the discus with a personal best throw of 37.02m/121-5, moving him up to eighth place. He continued to move up the ladder after he won the javelin with a personal best throw of 56.59m/185-8.

Heading into the 1500m, Dubbert was sitting fifth with 5,434 points. The Beloit, Kan., native ran the second fastest time of the 11 decathletes finishing the race in 4:39.56, completing the decathlon in third overall with 6,117 points.
