PHOENIX - Yannik Emmert finished off the GCU Invitational with his seventh top 10 finish of his career.
The senior capped off his final round with a 73, allowing him to finish with a 208 54-hole score. Emmert set a new season low for a 54-hole score while obtaining a new season-low for an 18-hole score in the first round with a 67. The weekend marked the second time in Emmert's career where he finished with two under 70 scores, with the last outing being at the Pro Compression Invitational in 2017.
Palmer Hays finished his day tied for 37th after shooting a 74, marking the best finish of his career. His 216 54-hole score set a new career low, with his previous 224 at the Louisiana Classics. Shooting his first two rounds for an even par, Hays came up with a new season-low for a 36-hole score and beat his previous mark by 10 strokes.
Zac Owens shot an even-par in the third round to tally a total of 218, climbing his way back up to a tie for 54th. Freshman
Dawson Lewis finished with a 76 to claim a 222 total score and a tie for 75th while
Brock Polhill shot a 77 and joined his teammate in 75th place.
Wichita State collected its lowest 54-hole score of the season with an 859, with the previous mark being 863 at the Ram Masters Invitational on Sept. 18, 2018. The Shockers fell to 10th place after the third round, with Wyoming, North Dakota State and Grand Canyon jumping ahead of the Shockers in the standings.
UMKC won the event after shooting a 276 as a team in the third round, dominating UTRGV by 14 strokes. Missouri and UTEP tied for third, each falling one stroke behind second place.
The Shockers continue their spring campaign with the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C., with the first round scheduled to take place on Friday.
