WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State women's basketball program will be honoring breast cancer survivors at the Sun., Feb. 17 game against SMU. The game starts at 2 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
Â
The matchup is the annual Play4Kay "pink" game and $2 of every ticket sold will benefit the Kay Yow fund supporting breast cancer research and awareness.
Â
"Our Play4Kay Game is always a special night," said head women's basketball coach
Keitha Adams. "We will recognize and honor those affected by cancer. My dad battled cancer for many years, so this is a cause that is extremely important to me."
Â
WSU is offering free tickets to breast cancer survivors and up to four of their family members. The American Cancer Society is coordinating ticket distribution to survivors through Sarah Vincze at 316-616-6512 or at

Â
Ascension Via Christi volunteers will be on hand prior to the 2 p.m. tip-off distributing hand-made pink hats to breast cancer survivors. Plus, everyone who is among the first 1,000 attendees will receive a free pink phone wallet courtesy of WSU and Via Christi.Â
Â
Following the game, WSU will be hosting a free, hour-long mini basketball camp for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Â
"We're excited that WSU has chosen to recognize our sponsorship of its Women's Basketball program at a game with so many family-friendly and community-supportive activities going on," says Kim Yearout, director of Ascension Via Christi's Sports Medicine outreach program and outpatient therapy centers. "It should be a great game and great fun for everyone."
