WICHITA, Kan. – The Shockers will host the Wichita State Invitational on Friday, February 1 at the Heskett Center.

Wichita State will suit up 35 student-athletes, including 18 women and 17 men at the Wichita State Invitational.

The women's weight throw, women's shot put and men's shot put kick things off for the Invitational at 9:00 a.m. Running events begin with the 60m hurdles at 12:30 p.m. Admission to the event is $5, kids under three are free. Wichita State students will receive free admission with their Shocker ID.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
The men's weight throw will be the highlighted event, Shockers
Cory Martens and
Isaiah Evans rank No. 1 and No. 2 in the American Athletic Conference. Martens personal best 19.76m/64-10 is No. 6 on the Shocker all-time top-10 list, while Evans personal best of 19.49m/63-11.5 is No. 7.

Pole Vaulter
Alesa Frey has the fourth best clearance in The American at 3.95m/12-11.5. The senior is in action at 10:30 a.m., along with four other women Shocker vaulters.

Majority of the runners will rest this week with a select few participating in the 60m, 200m, 400m, mile, 3000m and 60m hurdles. Shockers enter a total of six runners in the mile, including four men and two men.

NEXT UP
Wichita State will split into three meets on Feb. 8-9, a select few distance runners will travel west to compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., while the rest of the team will split between traveling to Pittsburg, Kan., to compete at the Gorilla Classic, or the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
