WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State forward
Markis McDuffie was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week of Jan. 14-20, the league announced Monday.
McDuffie -- a 6-foot-8 senior from Paterson, N.J. -- has topped 20-points in each of his last four games. The senior scored a game-high 23 points on Wednesday night as WSU handed first-place UCF its first conference loss. He put up 21 on Saturday against Cincinnati and climbed four spots to No. 26 on WSU's career scoring list. In two games, McDuffie averaged 22.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. He was 16-of-29 from the field (.552) and hit 6-of-11 three-point attempts (.545).
It's the first weekly honor of the conference season for a WSU player. McDuffie was player of the week on Nov. 12 and made the honor roll a week later.
Samajae Haynes-Jones and
Jaime Echenique made honor roll appearances during the month of December.
WSU (8-9, 1-4) travels to USF (12-6, 2-4) on Tuesday night. The 7 p.m. CT tip airs nationally on CBS Sports Network.
