All Six Shocker Seniors are Going Pro

8/17/2018 9:45:00 AM

All six members of Wichita State's 2017-18 senior class are set to begin professional careers in Europe this fall after recent commitments by Conner Frankamp and Rauno Nurger to teams in Bulgaria and Spain.

A seventh Shocker, sophomore Landry Shamet, was selected by the Philadelphia 76'ers in the first round of the June NBA Draft.

In 11 seasons at WSU, head coach Gregg Marshall has produced 34 pros, including six who have logged time in the NBA. A total of 26 Marshall Era Shocker alums are still active.

Nurger finalized a deal with CB Penas Huesca (also known as Levitec Huesca) in Spain's second-tier league, LEB Oro. The 6-foot-10 center from Keila, Estonia was an effective weapon off the bench for WSU in 2017-18, averaging 4.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.4 minutes.

Frankamp is headed to Stara Zagora, Bulgaria to play for BC Beroe in the Bulgarian National Basketball League. The club won the Bulgarian Super Cup in 2016-17 and also captured the Balkan League championship against other pro clubs from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montengero, Kosovo and Albania. The Bulgarian NBL schedule runs from October to May.

Frankamp, a 6-foot-1 sharp-shooter from Wichita, finished his career ranked sixth on the school's all-time three-point field goal chart (164) despite playing less than three full seasons. He was a perfect 35-for-35 from the foul line as a senior and averaged a career-best 10.6 points.
