Wichita, Kan. – The Shockers travel to Cincinnati to compete in their first American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Friday, May 11-13.
Day one of the American Athletic Conference Championships begin Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. CT with the men's hammer throw. The decathlon starts at 11:30 a.m. CT with the 100m and the heptathlon at 12 p.m. CT with the 100m hurdles. Day one of the running events start with the women's 800m prelims at 5 p.m. CT, and ending day one of the conference meet is the men's 10,000m final at 7:30 p.m. CT.
Live coverage will be aired on the American Digital Network via Facebook Live. Friday, May 11 begins at 11:30 a.m. CT, Saturday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m. CT and Sunday's coverage begins at 9 a.m. CT.
The men's team enters the meet behind favorite No. 4 Houston. Multiple Shockers rank in the top-five of their respected event, including 12 rankings in the top-three in their events. Despite having the No. 1 ranking in the decathlon, four-time All-American
Hunter Veith will not compete in the event. Veith is entered to compete in the 110m hurdles, long jump, high jump, pole vault and triple jump.
True freshman
Rayvon Allen enters the triple jump with a conference leading mark of 15.64m/51-3.75, followed by
Jared Belardo with the No. 2 mark of 15.62m/51-3.
Aaron True leads the No. 1 javelin group into the conference meet with a conference leading throw of 72.05m/236-5. The Shocks have four men that rank in the top-10 of The American.
Isaiah Evans is seeded fourth in the hammer throw with a personal best 191-4.
Indoor mile champion
Zack Penrod enters the 1500m with the conference second best time of 3:45.41 and the men's 4x100m team of
Denvoir Griffin, Allen,
Erick Ngaiza and Belardo are ranked No. 3 with a season best time of 40.28.
The women's team enters the conference meet with 10 marks that rank in the top-10 in their respected event, including seven marks in the top-five of The American.
Winny Koskei leads the women with two No. 2 rankings in The American. The redshirt freshman has the second best conference times in the 5000m (16:30.16) and 10,000m (34:47.00).
School record holder
Carlea Miles is entered to compete in the heptathlon and javelin. She currently has the conference third best javelin mark of 47.68m/156-5.
Kendra Henry enters the conference championship meet with the fifth best score of 4,561 in the heptathlon,
Kelsey Slawson is No. 5 in the shot put (15.56m/51-0.75) and
Katie Murray No. 5 in the high jump with a clearance of 1.73m/5-8.
