Final Results

RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Wichita State women's golf team finished the first competition of 2018 with a fifth place finish at the Rio Verde Invitational with Taryn Torgerson finishing fourth individually.

Torgerson led the Shockers from the first tee, carding the team's best score in round two with an even-par 72, ending the tournament at 222 and in fourth position after shooting 77 in round three.

Laine Evans finished three strokes behind her teammate with 225. Evans shot 74 in rounds two and three to finish tied for 11th.

Michelle Ledermann finished inside the top-50 after ending the tournament with 236. Ledermann shot 80 on day three to finish tied for 46th.

Annika Chickering and Taylor BeDell rounded out the five-person Shocker lineup after ending with 238 and 247, good for tied for 53rd and tied for 78th. 

As a team, the Shockers carded 306 in round three to eventually finish with 917 and in fourth position. Seton Hall was the team champion after finishing at 902, a single stroke ahead of Akron with 903. Arkansas State finished in third with 909. 

The Shockers have just over two weeks off before they head to Dallas, Texas, for the Brookhaven Invitational held March 12-13.
