WICHITA, Kan. – Kendra Henry set a personal best pentathlon score of 3,572 to win the Shocker Multi Saturday evening at the Heskett Center.

Kendra Henry set personal bests in the 60m hurdles (9.20), shot put (12.22m/40-1.25) and 800m (2:25.91) to win the Shocker Multi pentathlon.

"I came in feeling confident," said Henry "This off-season we had all been training really hard and I felt comfortable in all of my events. I was excited to see what I was going to do because I have seen the improvements in practice."

The redshirt sophomore led a Wichita State group that placed three other Shockers in the top-5.
Claudia Rojo finished second (3,560),
Sydney Wilson placed third (3,400) and
Maria Romero rounded out the top-5 with a personal best pentathlon score of 3,287.

"I was really proud of the women today," said head track and field director
Steve Rainbolt "I know enough about this to know that it's not easy to do a pentathlon as the season opener and have really good performances.
Kendra Henry had a personal best to win the event and beats a really good athlete in
Claudia Rojo."

The Shocker women set a total of 14 personal bests. Henry led the way with four personal best, followed by Romero with three (pentathlon, 60m hurdles (9.08), high jump (1.52m/4-11.75)), Hanna Cole with three (pentathlon (3,152), 60m hurdles (9.61), long jump (5.67m/18-7.25)) and
Jalen Milligan with three (pentathlon (2,858), 60m hurdles (9.49), high jump (1.49m/4-10.5). Wilson set one personal best in the shot put with a mark of 11.42m/37-5.75.

After having a breakthrough performance on day one, sophomore
Grant Downes carried that momentum to day to finishing second in the heptathlon with a personal best score of 4,802 points.

Grant Downes is off to a good start," said Rainbolt "I'm proud of him and I think he will be a guy that can contend in The American conference."

Lucas Shaffer set a personal best in the pole vault (4.10m/13-5.25) and 1000m (2:55.07), to finish fifth overall with 4,522 points, a personal best heptathlon score.

Davis Dubbert recorded a personal best heptathlon score of 4,239 to finish eighth. Dubbert equaled his personal best in the 60m hurdles (9.67) and set a personal best in the pole vault (3.60m/11-9.75).

BOSTON, Ma. – Rebekah Topham finished fourth in the women's 3000m with a time of 9:36.36 and
Winny Koskei ran the fourth fastest 5000m in Shocker history, passing Leah Thompson (2011) with a personal best time of 16:17.22. Koskei finished ninth in section two and 24th overall.
