Shockers Prepare for Herb Wimberly Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - For the ninth consecutive year, the Wichita State men's golf team will compete in the Herb Wimberly Invitational.

The Shockers last won the event in 2012 with a score of 841 and have won the tournament three times in its program's history.

Senior Yannik Emmert is coming off a 28th place finish in The Jackrabbit on Oct. 2 and will play in his final Herb Wimberly Invitational after claiming fourth in 2016. Senior Adrien Michellod came up with his third career top 20 performance in The Jackrabbit and finished tied for 39th when he competed in New Mexico State's event as a freshman in 2015.

Sophomore Zac Owens and freshman Dawson Lewis look to continue their contributions for the Shockers on Monday. Owens finished in a tie for 33rd in The Jackrabbit while Lewis tied for 63rd after shooting a 238.

Freshman Brock Polhill rounds out the lineup for Wichita State, where he last competed in the Ram Masters Invitational. His 220 put him in a tie for 47th place in his second collegiate meet.

In addition to host school New Mexico State, the Shockers go up against Cal Baptist, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, McMurry, Odessa JC, Oral Roberts, UTEP, UTRGV, Wichita State, Western Illinois, Western New Mexico.

The New Mexico State University Golf Course is a 7,242-yard, par-71 course. Tee-off is at 9:30 CT (8:30 MT) with a shotgun on Monday. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStatResults.com. Updates throughout the tournament will be available on the men's golf team's Twitter @GoShockersMGLF.
