CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wichita State men's tennis team fell to Auburn, 4-3, Sunday at the Reis Tennis Center in Cambridge.

Murkel Dellien and
Marius Frosa took down Edward Nguyen/Olle Thestrup 6-3 to start the day in doubles for the Shockers. After Mirolsav Herzan and
Andrea Caligiana fell to Carles Sarrio/Diego Chavarria in the second flight (6-3), freshman
Andrea Trapani and junior
Eddie Stoica took down Tad Maclean/Alex Rushin to grab the doubles point from the Tigers.
The Tigers shortened the Shocker lead with a victory in the fifth flight. Tad Maclean took down Stoica (6-4, 6-4) to even the match at one.
Dellien got the Shockers on the board first in singles, taking down Ollie Thestrup in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) in the second flight to move the Shocker lead to 2-1. In flight four,
Miroslav Herzan took down Lorenzo Rodriguez in three sets, (4-6, 6-2, 7-6) to give WSU 3-1 lead.
The Tiger won three-straight to take down the Shockers. In three sets, Brandon Laubser defeated Caligiana (6-2, 4-6, 7-6) in the sixth flight. Playing in the first flight for the first time this season, Frosa and Nguyen went head-to-head in a three-set battle. Nguyen pulled away defeating Frosa (7-6, 2-6, 6-3). In the clinch match, freshman Trapani took on Carles Sarrio. Trapani won the first set, in a tiebreaker (7-6(7). Sarrio won the second and third (6-1, 6-3) to give the Tigers their fourth victory of the season.
The Shockers move to 1-3 on the season, and will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 3 at Arkansas. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
