ARDMORE, Okla. - Behind a tournament best second round, senior
Taryn Torgerson carded an even-par 71 in the final round to finish second at the ORU Lady Maxwell Cup with the Shockers also finishing second as a team behind runaway winners Texas A&M.
After breaking her own program records last season, Torgerson matched her career low-18 hole score in round two with 67 en-route to her 15th career top-10 finish. Torgerson finished at 214 and tied for first with Hannah Alberto of Sam Houston State, before falling in a playoff hole and finishing in the runner-up position.
Gavrilla Arya,
Laine Evans and
Michelle Ledermann (competing individually) all finished tied for 10th after finishing with 226. Arya shot 75, 4-over par, in round three while Evans carded a 2-under 69 with Ledermann carding an even-par 71.
Finishing her first tournament as a Shocker,
Taylor BeDell shot 78 to finish in 23rd position with 233.
Annika Chickering and
Abbi Shaddix (also competing individually) finished tied for 27th after both finished with 238. Both carded 77 on day three, their best rounds of the three day competition.
Texas A&M shot the best team score of the tournament in round three to pull away from the field. The Aggies finished the tournament with 875, 23 strokes clear of Wichita State who finished second with 898. Sam Houston State finished a further two strokes behind with 900 in third position.
The Shockers are back in action Sept. 11-12, at the Payne Stewart Invitational in Springfield, Mo., with Missouri State the host team at Twin Oaks Country Club.
