SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - After carding a tournament best 68 in round two, Taryn Torgerson sits second individually with Wichita State in fifth as a team through the opening 36 holes at the MSU Payne Stewart Memorial.

After earning a 15th career top-10 finish last week behind a career low-18 record of 67, Torgerson picked up where she left off to lead the Shockers in the second tournament of her senior season. The Buhler, Kan., native ended the day with 145 overall. 

Michelle Ledermann finished five strokes behind Torgerson after ending the day on 150 after carding 76 and 74 through each round. The sophomore from Bolivia is tied for 17th.

Laine Evans ended day one tied for 46th after carding 79 and 76 through the two rounds, good for 155. Gavrilla Arya and Taylor BeDell finished the day on identical scores [156] and tied for 50th. Arya shot 78 and 78 while BeDell carded 80 and 76, respectively.

Competing individually, Annika Chickering and Abbi Shaddix finished within a stroke of each other after ending at 151 and 152. Chickering sits tied for 23rd overall behind scores of 74 and 77 while Shaddix is tied for 29th behind 73 and 79. 

Wichita State sits fifth overall behind team scores of 310 and 294, good for 604 collectively. Memphis is the runaway leader through day one after finishing with 580. Murray State is the closest pursuers after ending at 595 while UTEP is third with 600. 

Day two will conclude the tournament tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. in a shotgun format. Live scoring is unavailable with results announced at the conclusion of the tournament.
