ARDMORE, Okla. - Behind a balanced team performance, the Wichita State women's golf team sits tied for fourth through the first round of the Lady Maxwell Challenge Cup held at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club.
Taryn Torgerson and
Gavrilla Arya lead the Shockers through the first 18 holes of the 2017-18 season after carding 76 and 78, good for 5-over and 7-over par, respectively.
Laine Evans and
Taylor BeDell both shot 80, 9-over, with
Annika Chickering a further stroke behind on 81. Only five strokes separate the five Shockers after the opening round of play.
Texas A&M leads the field through day one after carding 290 as a team, good for 6-over par. Sam Houston State is second after shooting 300 with tournament hosts Oral Roberts in third with 312. Wichita State is tied for fourth with Incarnate Word two strokes behind at 314.
Round two will begin tomorrow with a staggered start from hole one beginning at 12:40 p.m.
