CHICAGO, Ill. – After sweeping Loyola on Saturday, the Shockers left five runners on base and fell to the Ramblers on Sunday by a score of 2-1.
Katie Malone started her third game of the weekend, throwing 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits to receive her seventh loss of the season.
The Shockers were able to score first, as
Asea Webber doubled with one out and later came in to score on a wild pitch to make the score 1-0.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Ramblers led off with a single, and after another single up the middle, Loyola tied the game at one.
To begin the bottom of the seventh, the Ramblers led off with a single. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runner to second, back-to-back singles scored the run and gave Loyola the 2-1 win.
The Shockers are now 19-13 overall on the season and 6-3 in MVC play, and will be in action again on Thursday, at 6 p.m., as they host Tulsa.
