CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Wichita State women's golf team has moved into a clear second place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship after carding 316 in a very wet second round at the Dalhousie Country Club. 

MVC Golfer of the Year nominee Taryn Torgerson leads the Shockers in eighth position individually after carding a 5-over 77 on day two to give her 154 through the two rounds.

Laine Evans also carded a 5-over 77 in round two to finish tied for 11th individually. Evans improved on her first round score of 79 to sit at 159 through the 36 holes.

After a slow start to round two, Gavrilla Arya improved as the day wore to card a 10-over 82. Last season's MVC Newcomer of the Year is tied for 20th overall with 161 through day two.

Maria Alejandra Villalobos is a stroke behind Arya with 162 after shooting 84 in round two for tied 22nd. Michelle Ledermann is a further stroke behind at 163 after carding 80 to finish day two tied for 24th overall.

Missouri State continues to lead the field after carding 314 in round two for a 13-stroke lead with 616.  Wichita State has moved into a clear second after carding 313-316 through the two days for 629 heading into the third and final round. Bradley and Northern Iowa are tied for third after both ended the day tied with 634.

Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry continues to lead individually behind two even-par 72's through the two days for 144 overall. Indiana State's Marissa Uradomo is second with 146 and Missouri State's Caroline Boone in third with 149.

The third and final round of the championship will conclude Wichita State's stint in the MVC tomorrow, with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. The first Shocker will be out at 9:40 a.m. from the first hole.
