PEORIA, Ill. – Wichita State used a four-run third on the way to an 8-5 win over Bradley in the final game of the series.
Alec Bohm went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a double, while
Luke Ritter went 3-for-5 with a double and
Greyson Jenista went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a home run.
Starter
Cody Tyler went seven innings and gave up five runs on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
With one out in the third,
Jordan Boyer singled and scored on
Greyson Jenista's home run for a 2-0 Shocker lead.
Luke Ritter and
Alec Bohm followed with singles that put runners on the corners.
Willie Schwanke's groundout brought home Ritter and
Noah Croft's single scored Bohm for a 4-0 lead.
The Shockers used a two-out rally to add to the lead in the fourth. With two outs, Boyer walked and Jenista followed with a double down the first base line to score Boyer. Jenista came around to score on a BU error to increase the lead to 6-0.
Andy Shadid hit a homer in the fifth and Derek Bangert hit one in the sixth to cut the Shocker lead to 6-2.
Ritter and Bohm hit back-to-back doubles to lead off the seventh and increase the Shocker lead to 7-2.
The Braves used a walk and three hits to score three runs in the seventh and cut the lead to 7-5.
Ritter's RBI single in the eighth put the Shockers up 8-5.
The Shockers are next in action on Wed., April 19 against Kansas at 6 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
