SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 25/25 Wichita State secured a share of its fourth-straight Missouri Valley Conference title with an 86-67 win at Missouri State, Saturday afternoon.
Winner of regular season crowns in five of the last six years, WSU (27-4, 17-1 MVC) is just the third MVC team since World War II to four-peat as champion.
Gregg Marshall becomes the first Valley coach in 60 years to win five titles.
The official bracket is due out Sunday, but the Shockers will likely be the No. 2 seed at next weekend's Arch Madness, with a 6 p.m. quarterfinal opener on Friday against the winner of a play-in game between the No. 7 and 10 seeds.
Co-leader Illinois State finished off Northern Iowa on Saturday afternoon to claim its own share of the title. The Redbirds own the tiebreaker for the top seed by virtue of a higher RPI.
All four MVC quarterfinal games will run on MVC Television Network affiliates, including Fox Sports Kansas City.
Landry Shamet finished with a career-high 23 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists. Shamet was 9-for-13 from the field overall and 5-of-8 from deep.

Rashard Kelly and five-straight from Shamet immediately put WSU back in front by 11, 47-36.
Just minutes later, a Missouri State 10-4 run pulled the Bears right back within four, 50-46, to force a
Gregg Marshall timeout.
Back-to-back three-pointers from Shamet and
Daishon Smith keyed an 8-2 run to once again bump the lead back to double-figures with 11 minutes to play.
