WICHITA, Kan. –
Three Shockers scored in double-figures to lead Wichita State in a 82-64 win over Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena.

Rangie Bessard tallied a game-high 26 points in the team's final exhibition on 12-of-21 shooting. Angiee Tompkins added 15 points off the bench and Keke Thompson finished with 10 points and six assists.

Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds.

As a team Wichita State just finished under the 50 percent mark overall, but dominated the glass for the second straight game. The Shockers outrebounded the Bearcats 41-26, while forcing 27 turnovers – 19 of them steals.

Megan Rosenbohm led Southwest Baptist with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and Caylee Richardson chipped in 11 and five boards.

1st Quarter
Bessard was active early for Wichita State in scoring four of the first six points and dishing an assist to Lozada-Cabbage. Wichita State then forced a Southwest Baptist timeout with 5:53 left after Jeliah Preston scored inside and then swiped a pass and recorded an assist to Bessard to make it 12-7.

The Shockers hit six of their first 10 shots with all 12 points coming in the paint against the undersized Bearcats. Tompkins subbed in for the first time after missing the first exhibition game and recorded a quick basket to give WSU a 19-12 lead with just under two minutes remaining.

Following the ninth SBU turnover of the quarter, Tamara Lee converted a three-point play to give the Shockers their first double-digit lead, 22-12. Tompkins added another score and Wichita State led 24-16 at the end of one quarter.

2nd Quarter
An offensive rebound and putback for Bessard put her in double-figures with 8:02 left in the quarter and gave WSU a 28-20 lead forcing an SBU timeout. Out of the timeout, WSU added on with a 7-0 run capped by an Aundra Stovall three and jumper from Preston.

Another 8-0 run and the Shockers led 41-22 with 3:00 left in the half. Tompkins, Lozada-Cabbage and Bessard all picked up scores during the SBU drought. The Bearcats cut the lead to 14, but consecutive scores inside for Tompkins put the Shockers back up 48-31. SBU would add a three-pointer in the final seconds to make the score at halftime, 48-34.

Bessard and Tompkins led the way for Wichita State with 12 points apiece. Both team shot better than 50 percent in the first 20 minutes and the Shockers outrebounded SBU 19-11 to go with 17 first half turnovers. Thirty of Wichita State's 48 first half points came in the paint.

3rd Quarter
The double-digit halftime lead shrunk to single digits in the first two minutes thanks to Southwest Baptist scoring the first five points, but Bessard answered the bell with four straight points.

After three quarters Wichita State maintained a 65-53 lead, as both teams continued shooting above the 50 percent mark.

Southwest Baptist managed to outscore Wichita State in the period, 19-17.

4th Quarter
Four straight points from Bessard gave the Shockers a 70-54 lead with 5:50 to go in the game. A Bessard steal and three-point play made it 77-61. The Rosharon, Texas, native scored 10 of the team's 17 points in the quarter before exiting.
