Shockers Open NCAA Tournament vs. Arkansas

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State will travel to Stillwater, Okla., for First and Second Round action in the 2016 NCAA Men's Tennis Team Championships, May 14-15 at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

The Shockers (17-10) and winners of the Missouri Valley Conference will meet Arkansas (19-8) in the Round of 64. WSU's four-team region, hosted by No. 16 overall seed Oklahoma State (18-7), also features Bryant (12-11).

"I like Oklahoma State, having coached and graduated from there and I like the draw," said head coach Brad Louderback. "Andy Jackson, Arkansas' coach, is a very good friend of mine and he's done a heck of a job this year. They are going to be a very tough team. He's turned that team into a contender in the SEC. He's had some very good wins in the SEC. Every match is tough, and this is definitely no exception."

First Round winners square off on Sunday, May 15 with a trip to Tulsa, Okla., on the line. Match times have yet to be determined.

Out of the Southeastern Conference, Arkansas enters the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 19 in the ITA Rankings. The Razorbacks went 7-5 in league play this season with wins vs. No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 19 Texas, No. 28 Ole Miss, No. 41 Alabama and No. 43 Vanderbilt.

WSU is into the tournament for the first time since 2013 and third time under Louderback. The Shockers won the regular season and tournament title to earn an automatic bid. Wichita State's MVC Championship was its Valley-leading 25th in school history after defeating Drake, 4-3, in a thriller at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
