Tournament CentralWICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State men's tennis will play in its seventh straight MVC Tournament championship match following a 4-0 win vs. Illinois State in the semifinals Saturday afternoon at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
WSU advances to Sunday's championship match and will play the winner of Drake and Southern Illinois at 10 a.m. Wichita State will be looking to record its third MVC Tournament title under head coach
Brad Louderback.
The Shockers opened the match by winning the doubles point on courts No. 1 and No. 2. It took just 11 minutes for
Miroslav Herzan and
Haru Inoue to defeat Christoffer Greve and Dylan Steffens at No. 2, 6-0.
Jocelyn Devilliers and
Tin Ostojic then won the final four games to win at No. 1, 6-3, over Andreas Boers and Jakub Eisner.
Eddie Stoica put the Shockers ahead 2-0 in the match following a straight sets victory of Andreas Boers, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 5 singles.
Inoue and Devilliers wrapped up the win with victories at No. 4 and No. 3. Inoue downed Greve in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, while Devilliers ousted Rodrigo Oliveira in the match-clincher, 6-2, 7-6.
Senior captain
Tin Ostojic returned to the Shocker lineup for the first time in five matches. He missed the previous four with an ankle injury.
