FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Wichita State's track and field teams had 34 top 10 finishes today at the Arkansas Spring Invitational at John McDonnell Field led by
Brady Johnson's title in the 3,000 meters and
Kelsey Lathrop's win in the 800 meters.
Johnson won the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:24.74, while Lathrop topped the field with a time of 2:16.02 in the 800 meters.
On the men's side,
Nathan Wickoren was the runner-up in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase in a personal best time of 9:31.49.
Jacob James also set a personal record in a sixth-place finish in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.27, and
Zack Penrod set his personal record in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:54.93.
On the women's side,
Taylor Larch-Miller was runner-up in the 100 meter hurdles (13.23), while
Ashley Petersen was second in the high jump with a height of 5-7 (1.70m).
All-American
Jared Belardo was fifth in the long jump (24-5/7.44m) and third in the triple jump (50-6/15.39m).
Hayden Bugner finished third in the pole vault with a height of 16-6.75 (5.05m) with
Andrew Pope and
Chris Peters tied for fourth at 16-.0.25 (4.90m).
In addition,
Austin Chippeaux was fourth in the high jump (6-6.75/2.00m), while the women's 4x100 meter replay team of
Angie Vailas,
Raianna Maples,
Deja Young and
Taylor Larch-Miller rounded-out the fourth-place finishers with a time of 46.02.
Wichita State is next in action March 30-April 2 at the Texas Relays, and April 1 at the Stanford Invitational.
