WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State volleyball team will face TCU in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament in Lincoln, Neb., on Fri., Dec. 2.
The Shockers (24-7) will be making their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance overall and will face the Horned Frogs (14-12) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
No. 1 national seed Nebraska (27-2) will face New Hampshire (21-10) at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The winners of the two matches will face off at 7 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 3.
All matches will be played inside the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Shockers won the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title for the fourth time. It is their 10th appearance overall with appearances in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
WSU is 7-9 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and 6-3 in the first round. It will be the first meeting between the Shockers and Horned Frogs.
It will be the Shockers fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in Lincoln. The Shockers went 1-1 in Lincoln in 2004, 1-1 in 2007, 0-1 in 2011 and 1-1 in 2015.
WSU played 13 games against teams that made the 2016 NCAA Tournament. The Shockers went 7-6 in those games against Colorado State (1-0), Samford (1-0), UNI (1-2), Creighton (1-0), Texas (0-1), Iowa State (0-1), Cincinnati (0-1), Missouri State (2-1) and Marquette (1-0).
The WSU Ticket Office will be taking ticket requests until 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Seating will be based on priority points.
