RESULTS

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Wichita State women's golf team shot 311 in the third and final round of the Diane Thomason Invitational to finish tied for sixth place in the standings. WSU shot 312 in the first round and 300 in the second round at the par-72 Finkbine Golf Course.

Sophomore Taryn Torgerson finished tied for eighth, shooting a 77 in the first round, 74 in the second round, and 75 in the final round. Torgerson's second round included an eagle. This was Torgerson's first career top-ten finish. Torgerson's 54-hole score of 226 was also a career-best.
"Taryn was really solid," said head coach Tom McCurdy. "She capitalized on her opportunities and made a lot of nice birdies."

Senior Bryce Schroeder tied for 21st at the Invitational. Schroeder shot 78-75-78 in the tournament.

Senior Meghan Schuetz tied for 25th, shooting a 79-74-79 on the weekend.

Freshman Gavrilla Arya was tied for 39th, shooting 79-77-79.

Senior Daniela Rugeles finished tied for 52nd, shooting 78-82-80 at the Invitational.

Juniors Maria Alejandra Villalobos and Samantha Stewart competed as individuals at the Invitational. Villalobos finished tied for 34th, shooting 76-78-80 over the weekend. Stewart finished tied for 50th, shooting 80-79-80.

"We had some highs and some lows," said McCurdy. "We will continue to work on our consistency."

The Shockers are next in action at the Conference Golfweek Challenge on Sept. 21-23 in Wolcott, Colo.
