Former Shockers Darius Carter, Tekele Cotton, Cleanthony Early and Nick Wiggins wrapped up play last week in the NBA Summer League.
 
Carter and Cotton are rookie free agents. Early – who is under contract with the New York Knicks – and Wiggins – who spent last season in the NBA D-League – are both second-year pros.
 
With chapters in Orlando, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, the NBA Summer League's abbreviated exhibition scheduled serves as a training ground for young professionals and gives executives an opportunity to evaluate their own players, as well as potential free agent pickups, in a competitive environment.
 
Early started all five games, averaging 10.4 points and 3.8 rebounds to help lead the Knicks to a 4-1 finish in the Las Vegas League.
 
Carter also saw action in Las Vegas, averaging 1.5 points and 4.5 minutes in two games with the Denver Nuggets.
 
Wiggins played with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Utah Jazz Summer League, appearing in all four of the team's games, averaging 4.0 points in 11.0 minutes. His best effort came in a July 13 contest against host Utah, when he came off the bench with 11 points in 14 minutes.
 
Cotton picked up steam throughout the week while playing with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Orlando League, where he averaged 3.2 points, 1.2 rebounds, and a 1.0 steal in four games. He played just three minutes in the team's first two contests but worked his way into the starting lineup by the fourth game.
 
In the finale, Cotton chipped in six points, three rebounds and a pair of steals in a 102-100, double-overtime  win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
 
Cotton was nearly the hero, scoring twice in the final minute of regulation. His reverse layup knotted the game at 92 with just under 46 seconds to play. Seconds later, he forced a steal and converted it into a layup on the other end for a 94-92 advantage.
