The Most Valuable Player in the 1989 College World Series.
 
  • His record-tying three victories led the Shockers to their first national championship .
  • His complete-game 5-3 victory over Texas in the title contest capped a remarkable senior season in which he posted a nation-leading 18 victories and was named second-team All-American .
  • That total tied him with Bryan Oelkers for most wins in a season by a Shocker .
  • He registered 13 straight victories to close his career .
  • Named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year in 1989 .
  • Affectionately known as "Spike" for his bulldog attitude on the mound, he was a mainstay of the WSU pitching staff for four years.
  • His 43 career victories, 59 starts and 424 innings pitched rank third all-time .
  • He struck out 364 hitters, second on the career listing .
