Dreifort, who pitched for the Shockers from 1991-93, is recognized as one of the greatest baseball players ever to don a WSU uniform. The second overall pick in the 1993 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dreifort was instrumental in leading WSU to the 1993 College World Series championship game. For his effort he was the recipient of the 1993 Golden Spikes Award and the R.E. "Bob" Smith Award.
A two-time first-team All-American, the Shockers were 180-41 during his three-year career, and he led WSU to three College World Series appearances, including runner-up finishes in 1991 and 1993.
Dreifort is also WSU's career-leader in ERA at 2.24 in 78 appearances, and is third in career saves with 17. He also holds a career record of 26-5 at WSU, and gave up the fewest hits per nine innings in his career. Also a prolific hitter, he also earned second-team all-America honors as a utility player by Collegiate Baseball in 1993.
