WICHITA, Kan. -- No. 52 Wichita State won three, point-deciding tiebreakers, Wednesday afternoon, to down Southern Illinois 7-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference men's tennis opener for both schools.
Tomislav Gregurovic and Tin Ostojic (ITA No. 28) set the tone during the doubles portion, coming from behind for an 8-7 (7-5) victory to clinch the doubles point.
In singles, brothers Guillermo and Sergio de Vilchez won deciding, super-set tiebreakers at the No. 4 and 6 spots to produce two more Shocker points.
Ostojic, Gregurovic, Ilija Cuic and Jocelyn Devilliers all notched straight-set victories to round out the scoring.
WSU (16-4, 1-0 MVC) won for the 10th time in its last 11 tries. SIU dropped to 6-13.
The Shockers host No. 31 Drake this Friday at 6 p.m. on Senior Night.
