WICHITA, Kan.  --  Wichita State swept the men's and women's Herm Wilson Invitational Saturday at the Heskett Center.  |   Meet Central | Live Stats

On the men's side, WSU won with 168 points to 133 for Texas Arlington, 11 for Emporia State and 61 for ORU.

On the women's side, the Shockers collected 195 points to 130 for UTA, 87 for Emporia State and 65 for ORU.

Nikki Larch-Miller won four events, the the 200 meters in a time of 24.74, the 400 meters with a time of 55.83, the long jump with a jump of 18-7.25, and 4x400-meter relay that she had to come from behind as the anchor to win in the last 100-meters with a time of 3:49.85. | Larch-Miller Video/Highlight

On the men's side, Wichita State's Brady Johnson set a meet record in winning the men's 3,000 meters in 8:22.46, while Chris Burnett also set a meet record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:10.88. | Brady Johnson Video

Women's Pole Vault  --  Taylor Swanson (below) of Wichita State won the women's pole vault with a height of 13-3 3/4.

Women's Shot Put  --  Competing unattached, WSU's Jamesia Milton won the women's shot put with a throw of 46-7.25, while Wichita State's Emily Cook scored first-place points for the team effort with a throw of 46-5.5. 

Men's Weight Throw  --  Wichita State swept the men's weight throw with Weston Cottrell winning the event with a throw of 65-6 3/4 over teammates Skylar Arneson (64-9.75) and Taylor Goldsmith (63-9.75).

Prelims, Women's 60-meter Hurdles  --  Five Shockers had the best prelim times led by Breanne Borman's 8.73. Sierra Hays (below) had the ninth-best time of 9.37).

Prelims, Women's 60-meters  --  WSU's Taylor Larch-Miller had the fifth-best time in the 60-meter prelim.

Men's Shot Put  --  Competing unattached, Wichita State's Kord Ferguson won the men's shot with a throw of 57-1.50. WSU's top point-scorer was Skyler Arneson, who finished third with a throw of 53-3.5. Finishing fourth was WSU's Zach Loesch with a throw of 52-6.75.

Women's Triple Jump  --  WSU's Shanice Andrews and Annette Hodges finished second and third, respectively, in the women's triple jump with jumps of 38-9.5 and 37-4.0 to score points for the Shockers.  Jumping unattached, Courtney Mills jumped 39-2.25 with the second-best jump of the day.

Men's 60-meter Prelims  --  WSU's Drew Johnson (below) won his heat in the men's 60-meters with a time of 7.09, which was the ninth-best time. WSU's Marcus Moeder had the fifth-best time (6.97) and Grant Ralston had the seventh-best time (7.01).

Women's 60m Hurdle Final  --  WSU's Shanice Andrews won the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 to pace WSU's sweep of the event. Breanne Borman (8.75), Taylor Thomas (8.77), Jenny Pinkston (9.00), and Emily Doffing (9.03) rounded out WSU's top five finishers.

Women's Long Jump  --  Wichita State's Nikki Larch-Miller and Jenny Pinkston won the women's long jump with a distance of 18-7.25. Jaclyn Weber finished fourth with a jump of 17-11.

Men's Long Jump  --  Grant Ralston finished second in the long jump for Wichita State with a jump of 22-5. Ben Shaw finished fourth (22-2.5) and Tate Annis finished fifth (22-1.75).

Men's 60-meter Hurdle Final  --  WSU's Jonathan Duvall (below) and Jacob James took second and third, respectively with times of 8.19 and 8.21, in the men's 60-meter hurdles final.

 

Men's 60-Meter Final  --  WSU's Marcus Moeder was the Shockers' top finisher with a time of 6.93 in fourth place, while Grant Ralston finished fifth with a time of 6.96, in the men's 60-meter final.

Women's 60-meter Final  --  Marli Bartlett was the third-place finisher (7.74) in the women's 60-meters to lead WSU. Taylor Larch-Miller finished fifth with a time of 7.80.

Men's Triple Jump  --  Wichita State's Ben Shaw took third in the triple jump with a jump of 42-2.25 and Taylor Cross was fourth with a jump of 35-8.

Women's Mile Run  --  WSU went 1-2-3 (below) in the women's mile run with Sidney Hirsch winning in a time of 5:05.91. Lycia Hollon was second (5:06.81) and Savannah Wright was third (5:08.13).

Men's Mile Run  --  Paul Raymond (below) and Justin Scott finished third and fourth with times of 4:21.94 and 4:23.13, respectively, in the men's mile run to lead WSU.

Women's 400 Meters  --  The Shockers' Nikki Larch-Miller won the women's 400 meters with a time of 55.83.

Men's 400 Meters  --  WSU's Alex Reed finished second in the men's 400 meters in a time of 49.41, while Cody Scheck finished fourth (49.90).

Women's 800 Meters  --  Wichita State's Tiffany Christensen finished second in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:13.88 and teammate Kelsey Lathrop finished fourth (2:14.91).

Men's 800 Meters  --  Wichita State's Ugis Jocis, Ryan Hocker and Robbie Martinez-Garcia swept the men's 800 meters in times of 1:51.73, 1:52.01 and 1:54.10.

Women's High Jump  --  Breanne Borman high jumped a height of 5-7 to take second in the women's high jump. Macy Ebert finished third (5-5).

Women's 200 Meters  --  Nikki Larch-Miller (below) won the 200 meters in a time of 24.74, while Deja Young finished third with a time of 25.44.

Men's 200 Meters --  Tucker Davis finished fourth in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.10. Rhys Powell (22.40) and Cody Scheck (22.58)  finished eighth and 10th, respectively (below).

Men's Pole Vault  --  Ethan Pearson vaulted 16-7.25 to finish fourth overall and second in scoring in the men's pole vault.

Women's 3,000 Meters  --  WSU's Ebeissa Nyandwi won the 3,000-meters in a time of 9:57.29, followed by teammate Kayla Deighan, who ran a time of 10:17.76.

Men's 3,000 Meters  --  Wichita State's Brady Johnson (below) won the men's 3,000 meters in 8:22.46, a meet record, and  Kyle Larkin was third (8:39.06).

Men's 5,000 Meters  --  WSU's Chris Burnett set a meet record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:10.88. Gage Garcia finished second in 15:23.13.

Women's 4x400 Meter Relay  --  Wichita State (Taylor Thomas, Jenny Pinkston, Nora Zajovics, Nikki Larch-Miller) came from behind to beat UTA in the last leg run by Nikki Larch-Miller to win in a time of 3:49.85.

Men's 4x400 Meter Relay  --  Wichita State's "A" Team (Jon Duvall, Cody Scheck, Alex Reed, Rhys Powell) won the men's 4x400 meters in a time of 3:18.17. The "B" team took second in 3:21.91.

 


 Records Broken:  

-Former ORU pole vaulter Jack Whitt, competing unattached, broke the Herm Wilson Invitational record with a vault of 18-7.25. He broke his previous record of 18-2.5 from a year ago.

-Wichita State's Brady Johnson won the men's 3,000 meters in 8:22.46, a meet record.

- WSU's Chris Burnett set a meet record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:10.88.
