LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Wichita State's women's and men's cross country teams were eighth and 10th, respectively, at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships this afternoon at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence. In addition,
Sidney Hirsch earned All-Region honors by placing in the Top 25.
The women were led by Hirsch's 20th place finish in the 6K race in a time of 20:54.5, followed by
Rebekah Topham's 28th-place finish in 21:07.0.
Lycia Hollon was 61st (21:37.7),
Emilea Finley was 66th (21:41.8) and
Kayla Deighan was 112th (22:18.7).
Jordan Maestas finished 128th in a time of 22:28.4 and
Paige Wells was 164th in a time of 23:06.3.
North Dakota State's Erin Teschuk won the women's race in a time of 20:07.7, while the team title was won by Oklahoma State, which had five runners in the top 16.
The men were led by
Paul Raymond's time of 31:07.6 in the 10K, which was good enough for 36th overall, while
Brady Johnson ran a 31:13.2 to finish 41st.
Ugis Jocis was 64th with a time of 31:36.0, while
Kyle Larkin was 75th with a time of 31:43.5.
Gage Garcia ran a time of 32:20.3 and finished 110th.
Nathan Wickoren was 142nd with a time of 33:01.5.
The men's race was won by Tulsa's Mark Scott in a time of 29:37.1 while the team title was won by Oklahoma State, which had five runners in the top 17.
Wichita State's men went into the event ranked 14th in the Midwest Region, while the women were ranked ninth headed into the Regional races. |
