WICHITA, Kan. – The Black team used a five-run first inning to take a 12-4 win over the Gold team in the final game of the Shocker Fall World Series.
Black starter Robby Evans went two innings and gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts. Evans also earned the win.
Greyson Jenista went 3-for-4 and had one RBI for the Black team.
Tanner Kirk also added a team-high 3 RBIs.
Gold starter Gabe Constantine received the loss.
Bret Fehr led the Gold, going 3-for-5 and driving in one run. Josh Whisler also contributed two hits.
The Black jumped out to an early 5-0 lead scoring five runs in the top of the first inning.
In the bottom of the second inning, a sacrifice fly by
Zach Reding cut the Black team's lead to 5-1.
A leadoff triple by
Keenan Eaton got the fifth inning started for the Black team, scoring two runs to push their lead to 7-1.
A two run top of the sixth inning gave the Black team a commanding 9-2 lead, but the Gold team was not done yet as they scored two in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Black team's lead to 9-4.
One run in the sevent inning and two runs in the eighth gave the Black team the 12-4 victory.
The Shockers will be in action again on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. for their annual Screamage.
