STILLWATER, Okla. – Wichita State's Julia Schiller won her fourth-consecutive singles match Saturday at the ITA Central Region Championships to advance to the quarterfinal round.

Schiller (ITA No. 121) defeated Kansas' Smith Hinton, 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-5 in the Round of 16.

"Julia played some great tennis under a lot of pressure, both from the scoreboard and her opponent," WSU head coach, Colin Foster said. "She won a lot of close games and trusted her shots when the match was on the line. I'm very happy for her for pulling out a second three-set win in two days."

Teammate Gabriela Porubin saw her own run come to an end with a loss to Saana Saarteinen of Tulsa, 6-3, 6-1.

"Gaby had a tough day, which was disappointing for her, but she will bounce back," Foster said.

Earlier in the day, the doubles team of Rebecca Pedrazzi and Alex Trifunovic fell to Missouri's duo of Hines and Santos, 8-5, in the Round of 16.

"Doubles was a tough match," Foster noted. "We lost a few duece games that could have given us some early momentum, but that happens. From there it was level for both teams."

Giulia Guidetti's consolation bracket run continued with a win against Monique Krutak of SIU-Edwardsville, 6-1, 6-3. Later on, she took down K-State's Iva Bago, 7-6(3), 6-4 to move on to Sunday's semifinals.

Schiller is the only other Shocker still standing and will prepare for main draw quarterfinal action on Sunday.
