Box Score NEW OREANS, La. – Tulane used a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 12th to defeat Wichita State 5-1 in game one of a three-game series.
Garrett Bayliff went 2-for-5, while Micah Green went 2-for-4.
Starter A.J. Ladwig went nine shutout innings and allowed just five hits with two walks and a career-high nine strikeouts in the no decision.
Micah Green led off the 12th with a double down the right field line. He moved to third on a bunt single from Dayne Parker, but a double play left Green at third with two outs. Tulane reliever Emerson Gibbs threw a wild pitch to score Green and give the Shocks the 1-0 lead.
Richard Carthon walked with one out in the 12th and moved to third on a single from Jake Willsey. A single from Stephen Alemais scored Carthon to tie the game at one. With the bases loaded, Andrew Garner hit a grand slam to left field to make the final score 5-1.
