TULSA, Okla. – For the second straight year Wichita State's Tin Ostojic advanced to the third-and-final round of the qualifying draw at the prestigious ITA All-American Championships.
Ostojic (5-1) defeated Kentucky All-American Kevin Lai in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0 on Tuesday in the second, but his ride came to an end on Wednesday with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Duke's Nicolas Alvarez.
Ostojic got the best of LSU's Jordan Daigle on back-to-back days. The WSU junior posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over the ninth-seeded Daigle in the opening round of the singles draw on Monday, then teamed with Tomislav Gregurovic Tuesday afternoon on the doubles court for a 6-4, 6-2 win over the team of Daigle and Chris Simpson.
On Wednesday, Ostojic and Gregurovic bowed to the Virginia team of Thai-Son Kwiatkowski and Mac Styslinger in the second round, 6-2, 6-2.
The next action for the WSU men comes Oct. 9-13 at the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla. The Shockers will wrap up their fall season with a pair of home dual matches against Cowley and Baker on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
