WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State volleyball student-athlete Ashley Andrade has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week.
Andrade, a senior middle blocker from Glendale, Ariz., led the Shockers to a MVC opening win over Missouri State on Thursday and to a 2-2 record overall for the week. She averaged 3.50 kills, 1.07 blocks and 4.14 points per set while hitting .482.
In the sweep over MSU, she had a team-high 14 kills on 21 swings with no errors and hit .667. In the sweep over South Dakota, she had 11 kills on 18 swings with one error and hit .556. She also added five blocks.
In the loss to No. 7 Hawaii, she had seven kills, two assists, two digs and five blocks and hit .333 and in the five-set loss to No. 23 Creighton she had a match-high 17 kills on 31 swings and hit .387 while also adding a team-high five blocks.
Andrade and the Shockers are back in action on Fri., Sept. 27 at Northern Iowa at 7 p.m.
