WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's tennis team will begin their season at the Kansas State Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. Sept. 20-22.
It will be the first tournament of the season for a team that returns eight letter winners from a 2012-13 squad that captured the program's fifth consecutive Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament titles.
Joining them will be sophomore transfer Abby Stevens and freshmen Whitley Quan and Luca Pump. Stevens comes to the Shockers after spending her freshman season at Colorado State where she was named to the Mountain West All-Conference Team and finished the season with a singles record of 20-14.
Stevens is originally from Wichita, Kan. and graduated from Kapaun Mount Carmel. Quan comes to Wichita State from Greenbelt, Md., while Pump is from Baja, Hungary.
The Shockers will begin the Kansas State Invitational on Friday with singles play against Nebraska-Omaha at 1 p.m. Doubles play against UMKC will then begin at 4 p.m. Results will be posted on GoShockers.com following the completion of play each day.
