WICHITA, Kan.- Around 221 sixth graders from Goddard Discovery Middle School got to meet their Wichita State student-athlete pen pals they had been writing to throughout the school year today.
The sixth graders and around 120 student-athletes from a variety of sports teams corresponded once a month since the fall, learning about each other's lives through writing.
The sixth graders and their Shocker athlete pen pals met each other in the morning at Charles Koch Arena. Then, the student-athletes showed them around campus, took them to their classes, took them to the Rhatigan Student Center to eat lunch, bowl and play pool, and shot baskets and other activites on the floor inside Charles Koch Arena.
