WICHITA, Kan. - Following
her performance at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C., Wichita State
sophomore Brianne Bond has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of
the Week.
The sophomore from Columbia, Mo. (Rock Bridge High School) went
7-for-14, had a .563 on-base percentage, .786 slugging percentage, and
seven RBI's including three in the Shockers 5-2 win over preseason Big South
Conference favorite Coastal Carolina. Bond had three multi-hit and multi-RBI
games, 11 total bases, and hit her first home run of the season Sunday against Albany.
She is now tied for the team lead with 10 RBI and raised her season batting
average to .333.
Bond and the rest of the Shockers are next in
action as they host No. 1 Oklahoma Wed., Mar. 6. The home opening doubleheader begins
at 3 p.m.
