ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Shocker cross country senior Justin Scott was one of 10 fall athletes named a honoree of the newly-created MVC Leadership & Service Award by Commissioner Doug Elgin for the 2013-2014 Fall season, the Valley announced on Wednesday.

The Valley created this award in an effort to honor the achievements of exceptional student-athletes. A total of 10 student-athletes will be nominated as honorees three times annually (fall, winter, spring) for a total of 30 nominees during the school year.

In order to be eligible, student-athletes have to be in good academic standing, demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship, and community service, and have to participate in a sport, during the season of recognition.

At the 2013 MVC XC Championships last weekend at the Blank Park Golf Course in Des Moines Iowa, Scott finished 34th in the men's 8K championship with a time of 25:40.8.

The Shockers return to action on Nov. 15 when they head to the NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa. For more information on the Shocker cross country teams, visit goshockers.com.
