Stillwater, Okla. - The most successful season in Wichita State women's basketball history came to an end Sunday afternoon with a 64-44 defeat at Oklahoma State in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).  The Shockers ended the year with 20 wins to tie the school record and advanced deeper in the post-season than ever before.

Wichita State went toe-to-toe with the Cowgirls for the first 13 minutes, battling to a tie at 16.  Oklahoma State rattled off a 13-0 run, however, and eventually took a 31-18 lead into halftime.

The Shockers missed their first six shots of the second half and trailed 37-18 with 15:27 left.  Then the light switch flipped and WSU reeled off nine unanswered points capped by a Jazimen Gordon jumper.  Oklahoma State quelled the run with a three-pointer from Taylor Schippers to go back up by 10.  The teams traded baskets, making it 42-32 with 11:10 to play when WSU started another run.

Jessica Diamond and Chynna Turner hit back-to-back jumpers for the Shockers and Alex Harden canned a long two-point field goal from the left corner to pull the Shocks within 42-38 with 9:46 remaining in the game.

That was as close as WSU would get as OSU rattled off nine-straight points to put the game away.

Gordon led the Shockers with 10 points (3-for-4 FG, 4-for-6 FT) and added six rebounds.  Freshman Molly O'Brien contributed a career-high nine points on 3-for-6 shooting which included her first career three-point basket.

Andover, Kan. native Tiffany Bias led all scorers with 22 for OSU.  Toni Young put in 18 points with 11 rebounds while Liz Donohoe added 10 points and 11 boards.

Wichita State ends the year 20-13, tying the school record for single-season victories.  The Shockers also set the program's two-year and three-year win totals, while advancing past the first round of the WNIT for the first time in school history.
