WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State junior Aliphine Tuliamuk
received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association First Team All-America honors in two events for her top-eight finishes in the
NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships March 9-10. The USTFCCCA
announced the honors Monday.
Tuliamuk becomes the second Shocker to claim two
All-America titles in one indoor season, and this marks the third time overall a
Shocker was named an All-American twice in a season. Ineta Radevica took
All-American titles in the women's long jump and triple jump during the indoor 2002
season. Tuliamuk previously became the first Shocker to claim two All-American
titles in an outdoor season in 2011.
Tuliamuk finished third in the women's 5,000 meters Friday,
March 9 in 15:50.12 and finished seventh in the 3,000 meters Saturday, March 10
in 9:17.99 at the Boise State Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa,
Idaho.
The Kapenguria, Kenya native now has received All-American honors
six times in track & field and cross country during her career at Wichita
State.
The Shockers open the outdoor track & field season March
31 at the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
