"Read With Wu" Top Readers to be Recognized

WICHITA, Kan. — Throughout the 2011-12 school year, hundreds of elementary students throughout the Wichita area have participated in a fun and rewarding program called "Read with Wu."

The program, sponsored by Wichita State Athletics and the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, encourages children to read on their own and develop great reading habits by rewarding their efforts with exciting prizes.

More than 2,000 students from 39 schools and 99 classrooms have participated in the "Read with Wu" program this school year.

Each classroom's top reader will be recognized in a special ceremony during the 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 men's basketball game between Wichita State and Drake.

The top classroom at the end of the year will win a pizza party with Wichita State student-athletes and Wu, as well as a framed class photo with Wu to display in the classroom.

For more information about the "Read with Wu" program, or to participate next year, contact us at readwithwu@gmail.com.
