WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State defeated Drake, 72-58, in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon on Senior Day inside Charles Koch Arena. The win marked the first season-sweep of Drake since the 1995 season, and the first Shocker wins over both Creighton and Drake at home in the same season since 2003.

Wichita State's Haleigh Lankster led three double-figure Shocker scorers with 16 points, while Drake's Rachael Hackbarth led all scorers as the Bulldogs' only player in double-figures with 27 points.

In the second half, Drake closed the gap to three points at the 15:45 mark before WSU's Heather Robben stopped the rally with a three-pointer from the corner at the 14:47 mark.

DU again closed the gap to two with a baseline drive for a layup by Hackbarth before Boyd hit a three from in front of the Shocker bench to push the lead back to five at the 12:40 mark.

The Shockers pushed ahead and flirted with the 10-point lead twice as Drake cut the lead to eight, then to six on a Montgomery layup with 6:40 remaining.

DU's Hackbarth was then fouled by WSU's Dawkins for a three-point play to cut the lead to three at the 5:58 mark before Sanchez hit a three in the far corner, Gordon hit a jumper in the lane and Lankster pushed in a layup on a fastbreak to push the WSU lead back to 10 at the 4:18 mark.

Jessica Diamond's free throw gave the Shockers their largest lead at 11 with a free throw at the 3:16 mark, 65-54, and the Shockers cruised to the 72-58 win.

Prior to the game Wichita State celebrated the career of its lone senior, Morgan Boyd, a 5-10 guard from Olathe, Kan., who contributed 13 points for the 10th double-figure scoring game of her career.

In the first half, Lankster evened the score, 6-6, with a steal and driving layup heading into the first media timeout at the 15-minute mark.

The Shockers took the lead for the first time on a Dawkins jumper, 8-6, at 14:43, but Drake answered in what began a back and forth early first half. WSU again took the lead on a Gordon layup off an across the lane feed from Jessica Diamond.

Boyd put the Shockers up, 15-10, with a three from the top of the arc at 11:34.

Drake went ahead again, 16-15, at the 10:10 mark with two free throws from Amber Wollschlager, who was fouled by Sanchez.

The Shockers took the lead for good at the 5:15 mark on a Lankster layup, bringing the score to 19-18.

With the Shockers up 21-18 at the 4:32 mark, Wollschlager made one of two free throws after a technical foul by Turner, who had also fouled Wollschlager. The Bulldogs then missed the front end of the one-and-one before Rachel Hackbeth was fouled on the put-back attempt before also missing her free throw.

WSU went ahead six, 30-24, on a Lankster three-pointer at the 2:45 mark, her second-striaght, and the Shockers' third-straight with Dawkins' trey at the 3:47 mark to start the streak.

At 2:12, WSU went up nine when Price was fouled on a layup with made the free throw.

WSU took a 35-28 lead into the half on the back of 12 points by Lankster, while Hackbarth led Drake with 13 points.
