Men's Golf Signs Two

WICHITA - The Wichita State University men's golf program added two student-athletes for the 2011-12 season after Alec Heinen (Edmond North High School/Edmond, Okla.) and Myles Miller (Wellington High School/Wellington, Kan.) signed letters of intent today.

Heinen comes to Wichita ranked No. 100 in the class of 2011 by National Junior Golf Scoreboard.  He delivered two wins on the 2010 Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) and five total Top-5 finishes, while putting together the second-best scoring average on the tour at 70.30.  Heinen also competed on the 2010 Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT), picking up a win at the British Links Fall Classic and three Top-10 finishes.

Additionally, Heinen placed 5th at the 2010 PGA Junior Series event at Oak Tree Country Club, 10th at the 2010 AJGA Bob Estes Abilene Junior, and 26th at the 2010 Trusted Choice "Big I" National Championship.  Plus, his team at Edmond North High School brought home to the 2010 Oklahoma Class 6A state title.

Miller is a two-time Kansas Class 4A state champion.  He won his first medal as a sophomore in 2009 with a sparkling 67 and defended his title as a junior with a 73.  Miller also won the 2009 Kansas Junior Amateur Championship and qualified for the 2009 Trusted Choice "Big I" National Championship.
