WICHITA - The Wichita State University men's golf program
added two student-athletes for the 2011-12 season after Alec Heinen (Edmond
North High School/Edmond, Okla.) and Myles Miller (Wellington High
School/Wellington, Kan.) signed letters of intent today.
Heinen comes to Wichita ranked No. 100 in the class of 2011
by National Junior Golf Scoreboard.
He delivered two wins on the 2010 Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) and
five total Top-5 finishes, while putting together the second-best scoring
average on the tour at 70.30.
Heinen also competed on the 2010 Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT), picking
up a win at the British Links Fall Classic and three Top-10 finishes.
Additionally, Heinen placed 5th at the 2010 PGA
Junior Series event at Oak Tree Country Club, 10th at the 2010 AJGA
Bob Estes Abilene Junior, and 26th at the 2010 Trusted Choice "Big
I" National Championship. Plus,
his team at Edmond North High School brought home to the 2010 Oklahoma Class 6A
state title.
Miller is a two-time Kansas Class 4A state champion. He won his first medal as a sophomore
in 2009 with a sparkling 67 and defended his title as a junior with a 73. Miller also won the 2009 Kansas Junior
Amateur Championship and qualified for the 2009 Trusted Choice "Big I" National
Championship.
