WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State baseball student-athlete Aaron Shafer has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week of March 3-9.

Shafer, a junior from Moscow Mills, Mo., started game two against Harvard on Saturday and threw seven shutout innings. He allowed just one single and walked one and struck out eight.

After hitting the leadoff batter, he sat down the next 18 batters before giving up the single in the seventh inning.

It is Shafer's first Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week honor of his career.
