ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Wichita State (8-5) wrapped up play at the Lobo Invitational with a 8-0 win over Texas Tech (0-11) on a chilly Saturday night at Lobo Field.

The Shockers struck first in the top of the fourth with the aid of two Red Raider errors. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jamie Stanclift delivered a single to right that scored Britnee Barnett. An error on the right fielder allowed Cynthia Verhulst to score for a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Katie McGeeney reached base and moved to third on a double by Kara L'Huillier. A single by Barnett scored McGeeney while L'Huillier would later score when Lindsie Mitts was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put the Shockers up 4-0.

WSU kept building the lead in the sixth as freshman Kierston Dixon got the ball rolling with a single and stolen base. She came around to score on a single by Barnett. WSU tacked on two more runs in the inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Freshman Brianna Smet got the start for the Shockers, going three innings while scattering three hits and striking out one. Senior Ashly Bright came in for Smet in the fourth inning and continued her dominance in the circle for WSU. In 23 innings, Bright gave up no earned runs and just 11 hits while striking out 30.

This concludes play in the Lobo Invitational, as the two games that were postponed due to rain on Friday will be made up on Sunday. The championship and third place game have been canceled.
