WICHITA, Kan. - Kellyn Johnson, a junior on the women's track and field team, was named this week's Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments during the weekend of April 20.?

Johnson competed in both the Kansas Relays and John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., in the women's 1,500m this past weekend. Johnson placed third at the McDonnell Invite, running 4:22.92 to surpass the regional qualification standard for the third time this season, second time in the 1,500m.?

The Milwaukee, Wis., native, moves into the lead with her finishing time in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 1,500m is currently at No. 30 nationally. This is the first MVC Athlete of the Week honor for Johnson.?

The Shocker track and field squads will travel to the sunny state of California this weekend as they compete in the California Collegiate Challenge in Berkeley, Calif., on April 27-28.
