COLUMBIA, Mo.- Wichita State went 0-2 on the day as the Missouri Tigers swept the Shockers in a double-header Wednesday afternoon. With the losses, the Shockers fall to 8-15 on the season.

The Shockers matched the Tigers in hits, but couldn't manage as many runs, falling, 8-5, in game one.
Stephanie De La Riva hit a solo homerun to ignite a three-run sixth, but the inning wasn't enough to overcome the Shockers' early deficit. After De La Riva's shot, Lindsie Mitts drew a walk and Kara L'Huillier singled to shortstop. A Brooke Usher double plated both runners.

Cynthia Verhulst homerun in the third knotted the game 1-1, before the Tigers took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning.
Verhulst went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. L'Huillier also had two hits and scored a run.
Pruis (4-5) was charged with the loss, going five innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits.
In game two the Shockers stayed close until the bottom of the sixth, where Missouri posted five runs to put the game out of reach, 10-3.
Missouri again took the first lead, this time 3-0, in the third on three hits.

The Shockers answered immediately in the top of the fourth, tying the game at three. Britnee Barnett's solo homerun led off the inning. Lindsie Mitts doubled to bring around L'Huillier and Usher who reached on a fielder's choice and single, respectively.
The Tigers took a 5-2 lead in the bottom half on another homerun and three singles. Missouri's six hits in the sixth frame shut the door on the Shockers, adding five more runs.

Barnett went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Mitts collected two RBI with one hit.
Barnett (2-3) took the loss in the circle, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits in 3.1 innings of work.
The Shockers look to bounce back this weekend as they play host in the Shocker Invitational in Wichita, Kan. Wichita State will be featured in its home opener on Friday, March 9, at 3 p.m. against Minnesota. The Shockers then face Western Illinois at 5:30 p.m.
