Hanisch named MVC Player-of-the-Week

WICHITA, Kan.- Freshman Florentina Hanisch has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week. Hanisch is currently undefeated in the Spring 2007 season and her fall season was highlighted by beating three nationally ranked opponents.

The Florianopolis, Brazil native won all of her matches against Wyoming. She took on Corina Lazar in the No. 2 singles spot, where she won, 6-3, 6-1. She then proceeded with a win over House and Rowinski, 8-3, in the No. 1 doubles spot with teammate Madina Rakhim.

Against Nebraska, Hanisch kept up her momentum with a win over Diana Kuhl, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0. She then paired up with Rakhim to defeat the No. 6 regionally-ranked doubles team made up of Imke Reimers and Maria Ring, 8-6.

Hanisch is the daughter of Ricardo and Melanea Hanisch and plans to major in international business.
