Men's Tennis Qualifies for ITA Region Championship

TULSA, Okla.- The Wichita State men's tennis team started play at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 19-23.

Today Tiago Espirito Santo, Thiago Dos Santos and Rodrigo Briceno all competed in the qualifying rounds of the tournament. All three competitors needed to win their matches to move on to the main draw.

Santo started the Shockers off by defeating Michael Hobson of Indiana State, 6-2, 7-5. Santos then defeated Niklas Ottowitz from Univ. of Missouri- KC, 6-3, 6-1. The two competitors will now enter the main tournament.

Rodrigo Briceno then fell to Olof Sjolund from Tulsa, 6-0, 6-0.

WSU now has five singles and all three doubles teams competing in the main draw that begins Friday, Oct. 20.
